Test

First entry. Not much to report. Since submitting my report on Jan 2, I have not written any more, though I have been reading and I visited Chicago. I went out to one of the suburbs, Elmwood Park, and walked around in the freezing cold. The architecture was post-WWII bungalows mixed with a few 70s retrofits and mini apartment blocks. The main street was terrible, the largest landmarks being the car wash and a medical building. I also went to the Art Institue of Chicago, primarily to observe Grant Wood's 'American Gothic' painting, only to discover that it had been lent to a gallery in Iowa until April.
Plans for the next week: finish reading 'The Long Emergency', peruse at least two other books, and START WRITING. 300 words a day right? not so hard.
